Woman Drives Pickup Truck through Police and Protesters in Buffalo Tonight

BUFFALO, N.Y. Sept. 23-24, 2020 — Police say one civilian and two police officers, one a NYS Trooper, were injured tonight after a driver and passenger in a pickup truck blew through a crowd of police and protesters outside of City Hall in Buffalo's Niagara Square tonight (Wednesday). Several news crews were on the scene when the pickup truck went through the group and continued to drive off. As of early Thursday that driver and passenger are in police custody. The civilian who was on a bicycle when struck was taken to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The two injured officers are expected to recover.

The Buffalo march had been peaceful up to that point. Buffalo Police say they are investigating the Niagara Square incident.

The protest was in response to only one former officer being charged in the Louisville, Kentucky case of Breonna Taylor's death. The officer, however, was not charged with her death but with wonton reckless disregard in the firing of his weapon without knowing where the shots were going. In Louisville, two police officers were shot in the protests there. Their injuries were non-life-threatening.

We are providing two videos of the street incident but ask you to be warned and use discretion in viewing them.

The first video contains updated information on the two officers who are expected to recover. The second by Sun media gives a longer view of the situation. To see the videos, click on:
